Yahoo Mail
I joined the Yahoo Mail team in the midst of its rebrand. The logo was shifting away from its quirky, offset O's and bevelled feel, to a bolder, modernized san-serif logo with a flat design.
My number 1 priority was to find opportunities to infuse their campaigns with lovable doodles and colorful imagery, to assure Yahoo would maintain its eccentric spirit.
I helped art direct the email marketing campaign for their revamped e-mail app.
Also, I designed accompanying campaign merch, along with custom-branded emojis for their paid Tweets.
As the brand transitioned into its rebirth era, I illustrated this mural (above) around a handful of previously-used Yahoo Mail headlines, to celebrate the team's history.
These enamel pin designs represented each major feature of the new app (from top-left to bottom-right: The Joy Bar, Deals View, Themes, Organization, Unsubscribe, Attachments View).
Above, you'll find examples of social media posts I created for the campaign and an animated, hand-lettered Yahoo homepage logo for the New Year.
In addition, I was the Design Lead for Verizon Media's 2019 Global Holiday Party (above) and Yahoo Mail / BuzzFeed's collaborative "Slay the Holidays" event (below).
I used my love for calligraphy to illustrate the event logo, along with a family of colorful icons for the event's signage! 936 attendees visiting the holiday pop-up activation, and 85% of them downloaded the Yahoo Mail App and engaged in a demo!
Above, is a collage of miscellaneous designs I made while working for Verizon Media. There are banner ads, digital stationery, social posts, and office posters! I'm super proud of the amount of happy and bright imagery I was able to use in all the work I did for them.
Last but not least, here's an experimental, block letter concept I made for Yahoo Sports. It shows what a special edition branding element could feel like for a sponsored event.
A brand with this much soul can incite a radical shift in its category. I'm thrilled to have been a part of Yahoo finding its new voice and look forward to seeing how the company evolve on its whimsical personality!
